PAC Wedding Spectacular

As told by the Appleton Post Crescent — Brittany Martinez and Tim Brzozowski of Green Lake got closer to their wedding day Sunday.

The couple were among a few hundred people who turned out for the Spring Wedding Spectacular at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center.

Their excursion helped set the stage for the big day they’re planning for sometime between May and September in 2012.

“It’s very helpful,” Brzozowski said of their outing. “I think a lot of the people are very up front and tell you everything you need to know without you having to ask too many questions. Which is nice, because when you’re starting out you don’t know what questions to ask.”

Martinez said the event let her take advantage among an array of vendors — more than 65 were on hand — to sample the food, compare flower designs, check out unique touches in photography and do some pricing.

“It’s nice all around,” she said.

Event goers had a chance to take in two fashion shows featuring four bridal salons.

“We’re seeing what’s out there,” said Megan Gerke, of Valders, who was out for a look with her mother, Jeanette Gerke, of Elkhart Lake. Megan is planning a June 2012 wedding.

“We didn’t get into prices much yet,” Jennifer Gerke said. “We can check the websites and go from there, too.”

Tuxedos in brighter hues will be seen at altars in the year ahead, according to Kelly Olmsted, manager of the Men’s Wearhouse at Grand Chute’s Fox River Mall.

“The bright blues and bright yellows are very popular this year,” she said.

“We’ve had a fabulous year so far. Weddings seem to be trending at a really good rate.”

Lu Ann Vander Zanden, owner of Bridal Elegance and Formalwear, Kaukauna, said she’s doing a robust business as well.

For brides, she said she normally would insist they place orders and get fittings six to eight months in advance, but world events have changed that.

“I’d like to say eight to 10 months now because of everything that’s happening overseas in Japan and China. A lot of these imported fabrics are coming from there,” she said. “We haven’t seen the ramifications of it yet, but I think shipping is going to get held up.”

Vander Zanden said Great Britain’s upcoming royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton has colored the American wedding scene.

“I think with the mothers’ gowns. We’re seeing a lot of the moms shopping and looking for more upscale dresses, purses, accessories,” she said..

The show was a huge success!!  Mark your calendars and plan to attend the next show at The Bridgewood on July14th
